This is a second one, for my friend. The first one we bought is about four years ago, still working fine. We like it wireless. The monitor can flexibly place anywhere inside the house. When the alarm sounds, it will not startle the patient , and roommates.

I was a bit skeptical about buying this device since I couldn’t try it first, but I am more than pleased with it. The trick to using the pad, is to put the pad under the shoulders of the person using it. There is a short delay once the user raises him or herself up, therefore, by putting the pad under the users shoulders still allows plenty of time to get into the bedroom before the user totally rises from the bed. The alarm is loud even in the low volume mode. I just put it under a pillow. The size of the alarm station will also fit in the back pocket of a pair of jeans which is very convenient. I don’t have to carry it when I go outside. I must also say, the range is very good as well as the length of battery usage. I’m very pleased with this alarm.

This was purchased to allow caregivers to know when their someone was getting out of bed during the night. The transmitter is in the ‘patient’s’ room and the receiver is with the caregiver. It works very well with a tone that has two volume settings – “ding-dong” – and will not stop until manually shut off, which is a good feature.

Good value for the cost

My 90 year old mom moved in with us recently. She has dementia & is easily forgets where her room is. Prior to receiving this bed alarm, I barely slept, fearing that she would leave her room & fall because I couldn’t hear her. Her room is across from mine & I always left my door open. This bed alarm has honestly given me peace of mind. Although I hardly slept the 1st night we purchased it, because I was afraid it wouldn’t work, it did not disappoint. We rigged it so it would go off as soon as she sits up. Granted, it does make me jump 3 ft in the air when it rings in the middle of the night. I use it any time she is in the room & we are in another location of the house.
Worth noting, it’s a good idea to purchase the adapter, so you’re not always relying on the batteries. Worth the spend at this point & thankful we got it!!!

Bought this last year for my 89 year old father with dementia. First one worked great, helped us to sleep and have peace of mind. It stopped working after about 11 months, so not as long as advertised, but I reordered a new one which we started using last Saturday, Friday we noticed the alarm wasn’t working. double checked the batteries in the alarm and they were fine. There is a small red light that should light up in the sealed bed pad when released and that does not come on, so either there is a defect or the battery that was shipped was old. Literally did not even work for 6 days. Looking for new solutions, as I’m now having to sleep near his door to monitor through the night!

Before the bed alarm, my sister and I suffered from terrible sleep deprivation because our mother awaken us every hour. She’d already fallen and broken her hip, so there’s no way we wanted her getting out of bed without assistance. We purchased this bed alarm and also bought the PureWick external female catheter (not sold on Amazon), which changed all of our lives for the better. Mom learned to trust the PureWick and slept much better, although she sometimes wakes up confused and tries to get out of bed. The alarm has saved her on many occasions. Now, for the reasons I gave this four stars instead of five. First, it’s necessary to attach the pad to the mattress to prevent it from shifting. We used large safety pins for that purpose. The pad is vinyl with unreinforced holes in the edges, presumably for attachment. In a matter of a month or so, the vinyl had started tearing. There should be reinforced grommets for attachment. Second, there is a potentially dangerous delay in the alarm no matter how we tried to position the pad. If we put it by her shoulders, the alarm would go off when she reached for a drink of water or to turn off her bedside lamp. If we put it near her hips, she’d have feet on the floor by the time we go into the room. Not good. We ended up having to position the mat toward the hips and putting a rail on the bed to slow Mom’s progress. The third issue is the fact that the stated lifetime of the pad is one year, and the lithium battery in the device is engineered to die after one year of use. Why? I don’t like products that have built-in expiration dates. This sort of planned obsolescence if annoying.

This is the 3rd bed alarm we’ve purchased. If there is an elderly person in your family who might be prone to a fall when getting out of bed, this is certainly a device your should consider. We have found them to work reliably since buying our first one. We find them to work, on average, about a year+. The non-replaceable (as far as I can tell) battery embedded in the pad placed on the bed last about 12 months. Thus, a new bed alarm purchase is required.
A note on reliability – These bed alarms have always worked flawlessly out of the box. However, the one we most recently purchased, in Dec. ’18 – would not work after going through all steps necessary to make it operational. This process was repeated a number of times before finally calling the manufacturer’s 800#. This did not resolve the issue either. We were, therefore, instructed to contact the seller to make arrangements for return. We did so and the seller, Liberty Health Supply, was most helpful and saw that we promptly received a replacement. Appreciated!
Because this device has proven so helpful – and reliable in the past – we continue to recommend it to anyone who has a need. It’s $100 well-spent.

So far this product has met every need. My mom has Alzheimer’s and gets up once or twice at night. I was keeping my door open and lights on to hear her and was missing so much sleep. This device allows me to sleep and wake up only when she actually gets up. It works a good distance from her room and with doors close in between. It has 3 volumes and sounds like an airplane chime. The low volume is loud enough to wake me but not anyone else in the house. I have it by her shoulders so that it will trigger the alarm before she actually gets out of bed and I can get there in time. However, it does have a slight delay.

We bought this for my Mom who had fell and been hospitalized for 8 weeks. When she came home my sister and I stayed with her. We wanted something to let us know if she would happen to get up without our assistance. This works wonderfully. When she raises up it chimes. We also keep a monitor in her room and receivers in our rooms. We know as soon as she tries to get up and can get to her to assist her up quickly. It also reminds her to stay there till we get there so she won’t fall. Excellent purchase the only negative is that it is plastic coating and would be more comfortable if it had a soft cover that you could take off and wash on it. Thanks for the peace of mind.
