The Mindfold Eye Mask is a game changer! It blocks out all light perfectly.

I’ve used it for meditating, holotropic breathwork session and more. It has an adjustable strap to make it fit perfectly. The soft foam padding moulds to my face without any pressure on the eyes. So it is very comfortable. I also love how I can have my eyes open with the mask on and still have complete darkness.

Highly recommend for anyone who needs a mask for inner journeying.

These are great, but flawed and CAN BE FIXED. Sure, they keep the light out the best and allow you to move your eyes/eyelashes in complete darkness. The problem, as others have noted here, is that the flat, thin plastic is sharp edgewise and is so darn over sized (see the ad photo) as to prevent any sleeping on your side with the mask on. I have bought these glasses for about 10 years, due to their (laying on your back) effectiveness. Finally, it came to me three years ago, a two part fix: 1. cut the plastic around the edge with some scissors! You can take 1/4″ off all along the glasses, especially around the nose cutout (except the very ends which have the slots for the band) and that makes all the difference in the world comfort wise, and has no effect at all on the opaqueness or light blocking ability of the item. Now, (#2) here’s another, equally important modification, an even better trick. Get some good, black (or any color, really) gaffers (duct, “duck”, whatever) tape and remove the Velcro mask band ends and then put several layers of wide tape on the outside of the large black plastic sheet that comprises the non-foam part of the MindFold system. Then cut two little slots in the tape where the slots are in the black plastic and “re-string” the head band, and, you’re done. What have you done? Extended the life of these $12 sleep goggles about three or more years with 45 seconds’ work. In my experience, the plastic cracks from fatigue starting about 12 months in. With the gaffers tape on, the mask’s plastic and crack all it wants, in fact the sheet can break, mine did about two years ago, and they are even more comfortable and just as light tight, even better because they bend more easily to your facial contours, with the tape on the outside. Save money, have fun, keep the same sleep mask for years, and, make it much, much, much more comfortable! Are you listening, Mindfold?)

The Mindfold is a MUST HAVE for a long-haul flight. 15+ hrs non-stop from Dallas to Sydney is brutal enough on the big Qantas bird, but the Mindfold total blackout design was a lifesaver. TOTAL blackout of daylight as well as comfort allowed a great sleep. Also used for eye protection after cataract surgery to compliment plastic shields. Overall great design and product.

I’ve tried a number of these eye masks, and this is the only one I’ve found that blocks out all or nearly all light (at least for me). When sitting upright in meditation, it blocks out 100%, and when lying on my back, more like 98%.

This is perfect for my purpose, which involves a kind of meditation on the “inner light” which emerges only in complete darkness. When focused on the inner light, which first appears as a kind of white or red visual snow, after 10-20 minutes it starts to emerge as blue or purple blobs, then more defined shapes. Some people report geometric patterns after that, but I’ve never gotten to that experience. Perhaps I will, thanks to this eye mask.

This mask is not perfect however. The foam presses on my nose in a way that slightly restricts my breathing. It’s a mild annoyance only for me though.

And the mask itself is made of materials that I fully expect to degrade over a year or two. I’ll be pleasantly surprised if that doesn’t happen, but it seems to me like the foam will eventually fall apart, or come loose from the plastic. The velcro strap on the other hand is quite robust, and I can make the mask very tight on my head if desired. It is also not comfortable for side sleeping.

Overall, I recommend this mask, especially for meditation or for sleeping on your back. It is rare to find an eye mask that actually blocks out 100% of light, at least for me.

I often work late nights and need to sleep past sunrise, which in my area can be as early as 2:20 a.m. in the summer!

I got this to replace an old sleep mask that was sadly no longer being made, and found that this one was even superior to my old standby. I really can’t say enough about it, and this is after using it daily for three years, traveling with it, and even running it through the occasional wash cycle! (It can come apart during washing, but is easily glued or pressed back together).

But what makes this mask really special and effective, is that it not only blocks out all light (the first mask I’ve ever used to do that 100%), but also allows you to keep your eyes open. Now, uhm, I don’t keep my eyes open while I sleep! But the point is, there is no actual pressure of any kind on your eyelids, like most or all other sleep masks. This makes for a totally comfortable night’s rest, or just a moment to “duck out of it all” for example on a plane, while meditating, or whatever, because when adjusted right it provides total blackness.

It also does an amazing job of helping me sleep when I have those seemingly endless moments of insomnia. When your eyes are open, but it’s pitch dark all around you and you’re lying down, it’s amazing how fast your body gets the hint and signals your brain to sleep. So that’s helpful as well: it makes me sleepy, then keeps me asleep by blocking out early morning light, or the eerie glow of all our modern electronic gizmos.

When my old standby sleep mask went out of production, and mine had worn out, I tried a big handful of sleep masks via Amazon, searching in frustration for something that worked and helped me stay asleep. I almost passed on this one, because of the gimmicky name on the front. But I’m glad I took the plunge, as this mask is by far the best and the only one that is 100% effective, AND doesn’t put pressure on my eyelids.

I can’t recommend it enough. Hope it works for you just as well as it works for me.

    Snabb leverans!

These are actually well worth the price! Perfect to block out lighting.

the side straps are not comfortable. the build feels very low quality. It also puts pressure on your nose. it lets light through in certain instances. I would not recommend. you can definitely find a better option.
