I did not know how bad the air quality was in my house. But this meter had me going online and looking at some data sheets. Especially from the USDA, (they have to set safe levels for those who handle dry ice) and up to 10000 PPM (1.0% Typically no effects, possible drowsiness. I hit 1701 ppm at one point (which took my color to the red on this meter) I do not usually have ventilation into my home but hoping to get screens on my house eventually (great Youtube Video on how to make your own makes it look easy) and would love to shut the AC off and let the house breathe from time to time. No back to outside which the video starts out with . The PPM for C02 hangs in the 600’s ppm, (According to the data sheet 300-400 is typical with 600-900ppm in cities (which Is why I was getting over 600 ppm as I live right off a Main Street with loads of traffic. I feel I can use this around my 3-D printers to monitor the air quality and really get a feel if I need to move them to a different space. I did see with the meter in my Garage it started dropping to almost 1000ppm before I brought it back in the house. So VERY eager to see how this rates with 4 printers cooking in my garage.. So this will be a good see if it really affects air quality, I have been seeing how 3D printing may be giving off gasses that might not be good for humans. (which means refreshing the air more often for larger print farms) just super happy with a tool like that as it could help you see what is in your air that might be making you not feel well. Just a nice little device. As stated in the video it has a kick stand and you can change from Fahrenheit to Celsius and also make the volume louder or softer. Cannot wait till all the printers are going at once to see what happens with this device. (if It gives anything conclusive I’ll come back and make an addendum to this review. )

One thing I think was missing was a nice soft cast to keep this safe. I did like the included screen protector. I know it’s nothing like what we get for our phones but if not tossed around this should work great for a long time. The included USB-C port is awesome and not some proprietary connector. And since I plan on using this long term in a location I am going to be using a power brick or something similar.
Love the fact it’s rechargeable and not having to chase this with batteries.

This air quality monitor is perfect. It’s compact, easy to use, and provides real-time readings on key metrics like CO2, humidity, and temperature… The display is clear, not sure about battery life but i will update later.

In the past few years, with wildfires often running rampant not only in my home state but in neighboring states as well, a lot of people – including me — have become sensitized to air quality. This year, especially, the smoke has sometimes been so thick that visibility has been severely limited. Those particulates are not healthy! They can have serious health consequences. An AQI monitor is a good way to track some of the worst airborne bad boys. The more we know about the air we’re breathing, the faster and more effectively we can implement mitigation measures.

The Life Basis AQI monitor has many positive features. It is compact and transportable, has an uncluttered, well-organized and well-lit display, is rechargeable, and features a user-specified timed shut-off. And perhaps best of all, there is a calculated (numeric) AQI. That may sound obvious, but it isn’t. I have another air quality monitor that measures everything this one does and then some but then fails to convert it all into a single, all-encompassing AQI number! Instead, it displays a color scale ranging from green (good) to maroon (gasp, gasp!) with a silly smiley face representation of the emotion presumably matching the presented color. Oh, my. How post-modern. When a simple number, not to exceed three digits, would suffice.

As good as the Life Basis unit is, I can recommend an improvement. That would be the Operating Instructions. Mostly they’re straightforward and informative, but the part on calibration of CO2 is confusing. Either the instructions need a flow logic check, or my device is aberrant. When I follow the instructions, my device does not respond as described. Even after going through the calibration procedure three times, I’m still not sure if I have calibrated CO2 properly, or improperly, or not at all. And the other indices (HCHO, PM1.0, PM2.5, PM10, TVOC, # of particulates, etc.), do they need to be calibrated? Or is everything calibrated along with CO2? These matters are not mentioned.

Just received this after waiting almost 4 weeks to get it. I have it sitting next to an air quality monitor that only checks air quality, temperature and humidity and those levels seem to match what this new monitor says pretty closely. The screen is nice and bright and quite easy to read. It came fully charged so I’ll give it workout for a few days to see how well the battery stays charged. The manual that came with it has very small print so I’ll probably have to study how to use it with a magnifying glass but it looks like it goes into great detail which I hope means that it will work how I hope it does. It’s getting close to the time of year around here when the furnace will be used a lot and this will hopefully help with peace of mind. Quite pleased with it at this point.
