All woman with hot flashes need this blanket. Need I say more? However my kids take it from me all the time so I think anyone that sleeps “hot” will love it. Washed well.

I’m perimenopausal so I have days where I have hot flashes and days where things are normal. I’ve read raves on cooling comforters for people who get hot flashes. This was a well-made blanket, but it seemed to trap heat. It was only cool to the touch when it was exposed to the air. If it was touching my skin, it was uncomfortably warm.

I managed to snag this on sale during Prime Day, $30 instead of the usual and even at $30 it isn’t worth the price. It’s so soft and luscious, however it is not “cooling” as it describes. It begins to retain heat as any normal blanket. I did not notice a difference between that and my duvet.

I had to get rid of an old blanket that was riddled with those unsightly lint balls. Mom loved that old thing and wouldn’t use another so I tossed it out and replaced it with the cooling blanket. This blanket has some sleeping dust magic because when mom wraps up in it, she goes to sleep in seconds. It seemed almost useless initially because we’re here on island where it is constantly 89 degrees and a blanket option is the last thing on anyone’s mind. However, this blanket has been great because when mom sleeps, it gives me a chance to get some well needed shut eye. It’s very soft, seems to be cooler to the touch and I am thinking of getting another.

My family is full of hot sleepers, and my youngest daughter and I are particularly heat sensitive. I use an industrial fan in my office, because I overheat so quickly, and my youngest daughter is even worse than me- when she plays outside, she and her friends have to be very on top of her color so that she doesn’t overheat and pass out. Our whole family is very heat sensitive, but we definitely have it the worst!
Because we’re all hot sleepers, night time is usually a merry-go-round of people getting up because they’re so hot- even with fans and air conditioners- to try and cool down by sticking our faces in the freezer, grabbing an ice pack, and so on. None of us get a lot of quality rest as a result. Between our own up-and-down, and hearing others’ ups and downs, it’s just rough.
Not long ago, I got myself a cooling blanket- I didn’t expect a ton out of it but I figured that worst case, it didn’t work great and nothing changed. However, for the first time in probably years, I slept through the night- comfortably. Between the fabric of the blanket cooling me off, and the fan which accelerated its ability to both absorb my heat and replace it with cooler temperatures, I slept like a baby. It was heavenly.
I’ve never seen my husband react to any blanket, bedding, clothing… any textile in general, really… the way he did to my cooling blanket. My entire family went bonkers and tried to fight me over it! So I set out to find them each their own. This one, I got for my oldest daughter, and since it arrived she has practically changed her existence to “under the cooling blanket”.
The fabric is super smooth- it’s very silky soft. The blanket overall is incredibly lightweight and the fabric on both sides is almost featherlight to me- it’s just insanely soft and light. The material cools in much the same way as athletic material does in a breeze and on its own, it brings your temperature down significantly and makes it much easier to get comfortable, lie still and rest because you’re not constantly seeking a cooler spot on the fabric. If you have a breeze from a fan going, the cooling effect is just amplified and made so much more effective.
This cooling blanket has changed my daughter’s life. She is also sleeping through the night now, no more trips to the freezer to cool off, no more ice packs. As I mentioned before, she practically lives with this blanket wrapped around her or otherwise on her. She’s much more refreshed in the morning, less sleepy throughout the day, and just generally more pleasant to interact with because she’s not cranky from being hot and tired anymore.
The relief that a cooling blanket will give you is something you truly have to feel to believe, especially if you’re like me and you’re ALWAYS hot. GET ONE!
