Description
Author Rachel St. John-Gilbert helped the unconventional woman Wake Up Laughing-now she follows that popular devotional with the brand-new Laugh Yourself to Sleep. These quirky, contemporary, relatable, and often laugh-out-loud-funny readings are designed to encourage women of all ages to feel their heavenly Father’s imprint on their daily lives-and what better way for today’s harried woman to drift off to dreamland each night? “The messages behind the laughs opened my heart more fully to the joys of God,” wrote a reader of Rachel’s first book-and Laugh Yourself to Sleep promises much more of the same!

So I started reading this before bed. I figured 1 story a night, and have a laugh before going to so sleep. I read the first story out loud to my husband who was not amused and didn’t laugh. The next night, I read story #2 in the hopes the book would pick up the pace, but instead it was about screaming disappointed kids and how we should and shouldn’t deal with disappointments in life. Of course I was reading it out loud to my husband, and he asked me out of his own amusement, “What is the title of that book??” Seriously, don’t bother picking this up. It does not reflect th he title at all. Very disappointed.

I wish I could say I am the kind of person who gets a devotion book and then reads one a day. Ha! I devour the book, enjoying it all the way. Does that make me an unconventional woman?
This is a good book for re-reading, and I use different devotions at Bible study and in different situations. Most of the stories are easy to relate to; all of the devotions are worthwhile.
I think I liked Wake Up Laughing a little better. I’m going to try the one about the messy house next.
