There are a couple of issues that I wanted a sleep aid to address: 1) getting to sleep, and 2) staying asleep. This Nightrest stuff helps with both, better than the other stuff I had been taking, viz. Schiff’s Melatonin Plus, which I think is a very good product as well. But that product did just OK for 1) (but a big improvement over nothing) and not so well for 2). Both products seemed to produce vivid dreams. That seems to be somewhat common with Melatonin. In my case, its a plus. I like weird dreams. My wife does not like that effect so much, so she avoids Melatonin.

Since I travel a lot, I also need to address a third issue: namely jetlag. The Schiff helped me with that too, and I really missed it on my last trip to Europe (from SFO). I just forgot to pack it. I suspect this stuff will help as well. We’ll see, as I haven’t tried it yet, except just when I got back. Then it worked great. But as most people know, the big challenge is the 9 hour time difference after the Eastward hop.

Both products seem to not cause me hangover or grogginess problems in the morning. Once I get my coffee, I am good to go.

One thing I wonder about is the other stuff in each product. In the Schiff Melatonin Plus you get L-Theanine, an amino acid that increases GABA in the brain. In NightRest you get GABA itself plus a few other active ingredients.

One other thing that could explain some of the differences is the method of dosing: with the Schiff stuff you take 2 small pills sublingually, and you get a pretty quick hit and noticeable effects after 20 minutes. But perhaps it does not last as long. With the Nightrest, you swallow two honking big pills. But perhaps that is the reason it lasts longer? Dunno. I do know that the first time I took Melatonin, pure, I did not take it sublingually. It didn’t work well.

So, I think this product is definitely worth trying. Messing with your brain chemicals is bound to have different effects for different people. I like to stick with amino acid supplements and well studied hormones like Melatonin. Nightrest may be as good as it gets, at least for me.

I needed a replacement for the Sprouts brand that are no longer made. Many of the same ingredients plus a few the Sprouts sleep aid didn’t have. I take one tablet 30 minutes before bedtime and no aftereffects in the morning (that I notice).

I just checked the warnings to see if it said that and it doesn’t so maybe it’s just me, but this has always worked wonderfully for me and NOTHING else has. Even ambien didn’t work that great, but I forgot to take these last night because I have memory issues and forgot to set my reminder and now it’s 7 AM because I’ve literally not been able to fall asleep all night and even without a sleeping pill I would’ve passed out by three or four. I think there’s a chance if you take them every single night for a good long while you get dependent on them.

Again, it might just be me. I will say I read the reviews for the first time and I can’t comprehend having trouble swallowing them. I take two at once, but if you have trouble with big pills, I guess it could be an issue.
Also, maybe you should read the warning because I never bothered to and two of the things mentioned mean I should’ve talked to a doctor, but the only problem I’ve had so far is when I forgot to take them.

They help you fall asleep and stay asleep. They also help you get back to sleep if you get up to pee. You will also be awake and not groggy in the event of an emergency. These are magical.

This product was recommended by a friend. To my surprise it’s pretty amazing. I’ve taken Melatonin products before that worked, but not for very long. I’m on my second bottle of night rest, and I’m still sleeping like a baby at night. So far so good!

This product has about the most perfect blend of knockout supplements to help you fall asleep, and to sleep well. If you research the individual ingredients, you can see how each one fits in to help address whichever combination of problems is causing your sleep issues.

This is a brief summary of the ingredients and their respected properties, do your due diligence though and don’t consider an Amazon review as medical advice…
Magnesium 300mg: aids in calming nerves and relaxing muscles
GABA 500mg: slows neurotransmitters in the central nervous system, activating GABA receptors promotes sleep
Taurine 300mg: activates GABA receptors in the thalamus region of the brain
Glycine 250mg: an amino acid, helps prolongue stages 3-4 of sleep and aids in preventing sleep fragmentation
Chamomile Flower Extract 220mg: well known calming herb, has suggested antispasmodic, and anxiolytic properties
Lemon Balm Aerial Parts Extract 140mg: antispasmodic, anxiolytic, calming herb, increases GABA levels in the brain. If you have an under active thyroid you should use lemon balm with caution as it can further reduce your thyroid activity.
Skullcap Aerial Parts 70mg: sedative, anticonvulsant, antispasmodic
Melatonin 5mg: naturally produced hormone in the body essential to the wake/sleep cycle

Even with all those good ingredients, sometimes this stuff just doesn’t work. Sleep is a tough issue to deal with when it doesn’t happen naturally. It’s hard to pinpoint which one of any number of things need to be in perfect alignment for it to just come naturally, and NightRest attempts to help each one of the points that may be hindering your sleep. It’s well worth the money for when it does work, and always worth a try.

This is the only supplement I have found that will actually help with my sleep that is not an actual medication like Benadryl or prescription medication. It helps me fall asleep and also get back to sleep when I wake up in the night which is every single night. The price is fair as well.
