We have used electric blankets and electric mattress pads for years. Our last mattress pad, when new, was great, but after about ayear, stopped heating everywhere. It had three zones per side, which was excellent until 2 of the zones stopped working. The phone and website for the mfg, printed on the mattress pad tag was called, and they denied owning the model, despite evidence otherwise, and the pad was discontinued. So I wanted another pad, but did not want an expensive one and I wanted it to work. I tried this one because the price was ridiculously low, the adjustable auto off feature was nice, and it had separate controls for left and right on a Queen size bed. I was expecting a low cost pad, but figured it would do till I could find a better one. Fall is cold here in northern NJ, and my wife needs the extra warmth. Despite the low cost, the blanket is well made. They have nice covered holes for the wire to exit from under the pad, the controls are simple but work well. There are 10 heat levels (L,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,H), and the auto off timer can be adjusted to 1,2,4,6,8 hours till auto off. The lowest heat level (L) is warmer than I expected, not as low as many models, but not anywhere near uncomfortable. I use level 2, which is about midrange heat on my previous heated pad. Level H is quite warm. Not burning hot, but like a mid level setting on a heating pad. I preheat the bed with level H, and the bed is quite toasty at first. I have issues with muscle pain, and I keep it at H for a while if my pain level is high. Most times I set it to 2 when I get into bed. The residual H heat level makes for a comfortable entry into bed and level 2 keeps me warm for the next 2-4 hours. That is what is nice. After about 2-4 hours, I am usually too warm and wake up and turn off the heating blanket/pad. With this unit I have it go off automatically after 2 hours, and I sleep comfortably the rest of the night. The pad contruction is better than the price suggests, but is not as good as the units that cost 5 times more. It fit my 12 inch Thick mattress perfectly and looks like it would fit a 15 inch just fine. So lots of heat, Good Value, fits as promised, controls work as designed. At this point I stopped looking for another unit that is “better” as this one meets my needs.

I do love this bed pad, but it gets really, REALLY HOT!!!

No, I mean like straight from the gates of hell. Other ones which we have had in the past I would consistently have it somewhere between 5-7 to get warm but with this one the highest I have had it is 2!!! I think 5 or higher could be used to cook food!! (but I wouldn’t recommend try that, just trying to explain how hot this thing is)

Like I said in the title I would be super careful with this around more fragile individuals.

I can’t even imagine using the high setting.

Other things I love: There are dual controls (his and hers in our home) and the controls allow you to pick how long it is on in addition to the temperature.

Other: I try to turn the bed on a few minutes before getting into bed because even on the lowest setting it will get nearly painfully hot in the warm up phase but after it reaches temp it’s perfect.

Hubby is always cold and complained a lot. I was looking for a way to make it better and found this. It fit the bed perfectly was easy to put on and set up. It was not padded for softness or comfort….not that I cared. We turn it on before we get in and it’s nice and warm. The best thing is that my hubby quit complaining. Yeah!
It was a good price and arrived quickly.

It has 2 controllers. 1 for each side. The only I would change is that it plugs in on both sides. Would be better with one main plug and two controllers. I’ve seen electric blankets like this.

My hubby quit complaining so it’s ok. lol

I’ve had two other heated mattress pads which I’d paid much more for, and neither have come close to the heat level I get out of this one. The connectors are on the sides so I don’t feel them with my foot when I move in bed, which is an added bonus. It heats up pretty quickly also, and I love that there is a visible timer on it so that I don’t have to guess when it will shut off.

The only negative I have, which I would take a half star off for if I could, is the power cord. Or rather cordS. There are two plugs, one for each side (my other two had two controllers but with a flat cord designed to run between mattress and box spring that split off into two controllers which both connected to a single plug) and it says explicitly that you can’t run the cords between the mattress and box spring, they must be free from any compression, and I need an extension cord as I live in an old home with four outlets total in the entire master bedroom. But that minor inconvenience is a small price to pay for the amount of heat it gives off. I’m hoping that it lasts me more than one winter – I’m a bit concerned due to the price having been so low, but I’m hoping I am worried over nothing (time will tell!)

  7. What’s Real?

I love the feeling of getting into a warm bed. This one is good, although very warm. At the beginning I couldn’t have it higher than L (low) but since then I have started using 2, so whether it changed or I got used to it, I don’t know. But I put it at 6 when I first get in bed. I like that it stays on for up to 8 hours. I do wish it had a 7 hour time limit, though.
